Samsung is launching slew of smart phones in India, along with Galaxy Core, it also launched a budget phone – Galaxy Fame and a mid-range category device – Galaxy Grand Quattro (Galaxy Win).

Samsung Galaxy Grand Quattro I8552 is known as Galaxy Win in other markets around the world but Samsung choose to keep its name Grand Quattro in India. Maybe the logic behind that is the Galaxy Grand has been doing quite well in India and Samsung wants to capitalize this brand name by keeping a similar name. Samsung Grand Quattro is also catching eyeballs for the fact that it is Samsung cheapest smartphone to come with a quad core processor.

Yes the Galaxy Grand Quattro is packed with a 1.2GHz quad-core Qualcomm MSM8625Q Snapdragon 200 processor and Adreno 203 GPU. It is supported by 1GB RAM and 8 GB internal memory which is expandable upto 32 GB using a microSD card and runs Android 4.1.2 Jelly Bean. While these facts are good, the display is quite disappointing. Although it comes with a 4.7 inch display, the resolution is only WVGA (800x480p) resolution and 199 ppi pixel density. It also comes with a 5 MP rear camera with flash and capable of shooting 720p videos, along with a VGA camera at the front for video calling. Grand Quattro is also a dual SIM smartphone with 2000mAh battery.

Price: While the Samsung India’s official website lists a price of Rs. 18,260, various online retailers are selling it for around Rs. 16,500.

Samsung Launches Samsung Galaxy Core

Samsung is on a phone-launch riot especially by launching galaxy series and launched the Galaxy Core in India soon after their flagship device launch. Samsung Galaxy Core is said by the company to be a power-packed phone, which focuses on “Ideal Portability”.The phone boasts an uninteresting specifications which arent quite a normal or default specifications of phones in this range.

The Samsung Galaxy Core comes with a 4.3-inch WVGA TFT LCD with a 480×800-pixel resolution. The phone runs on Android Jelly Bean 4.1.

Under the screen runs a dual-core 1.2 GHz processor. The phone comes with 8 GB internal storage options and  1 GB RAM. The memory can be expanded up to 64 GB using a Micro-SD card. Though a budget device, Samsung has not compromised with the hardware. The 1 GB RAM and dual-core processor should take you through most apps without a glitch. Though not heavy games, if the specs hold true, the phone will support multi-tasking with ease. However we don’t have any information regarding any graphics chip used on this device.Because of past experience Samsung has wonderfully upgraded the RAM to 1GB by not keeping it to 512MB or 768 MB

The phone comes with a 5 MP rear end camera with LED flash. The front camera for video-calling is a basic VGA camera. The rear camera supports functions like Best Photo, Continuous, Panorama, Share shot, Smile Shot, Cartoon.

The Samsung Galaxy Core supports some functions introduced by Samsung during the launch of the Samsung galaxy S4. The phone comes with Smart Stay technology which recognizes when a user is looking at the phone, and saves battery life when a user looks away by dimming the screen and powering down using advanced facial recognition. While the Samsung Galaxy S4 came with Smart Scroll which lets users play/pause a video by just looking at it, Samsung has introduced a basic version for the Samsung Galaxy Core.

The phone is available in both dual-SIM and single SIM variant depending on the market. While the dual-SIM variant will be available this month onwards, the single SIM variant will take time and is expected to launch in July. The phone comes with a 1800 mAh battery. According to the Press Release: The GALAXY Core is the perfect device for the user looking for optimal balance of portability and power.

Samsung is yet to announce the price of the phone but the phone is targeted at the budget audience and will compete with the HTC Desire X, Sony Xperia U, Motorola Atrix 2, Nokia Lumia 620 and LG Optimus L7 II Dual. Lets hope Samsung keeps our promise and makes this devices available for its users at an affordable cost.

Samsung will launch two Galaxy ‘Mega’ smartphones this year

Our friendly blog SamMobile is reporting that Samsung is planning to launch two ‘Galaxy Mega’ smartphones this year. Apparently the Korean manufacturer has decided to name its upcoming giant-screen phone as Galaxy Mega, which will join company’s Note-series in the battle for phablets.

According to the report, Samsung will introduce 5.8-inch and 6.3-inch display phones in this Mega series and the 5.8-inch GT-9152 is likely to support dual-SIM connectivity (Duos Branding). There seems to be no information about 6.3-inch GT-I9200 dual-SIM version.

SamMobile adds that Samsung Galaxy Mega 5.8 will be sold in white colour and will be available around (May 27 – June 2), while Galaxy Mega 6.3 will come in both black and white colours around the week 25 (June 17- June 23).

Samsung successfully started and accomplished their sales by introducing the trend of super-large screen smartphones with original Galaxy Note, which was later joined by Galaxy Note II and Galaxy Grand and now the company seems to be taking it to a new level. It remains to be seen whether consumers will indeed be interested in smartphone with a display as large as 6.3-inches.We don’t know how much is Samsung going to stretch the Display sizes on its device. We hope so apparel/garment manufacturers make the shirt/ pants pockets big enough, so that our 6.8 inch phablet can easily fit in them, without causing much discomfort to its users. :)

Have a nice day

Samsung is working on Smartwatch device named Galaxy Altius

Samsung has confirmed that it is indeed working on a smart watch device. Although, we have been hearing the rumours about Samsung smart watch for some time now, this is the first official confirmation from Sammy

“We’ve been preparing the watch product for so long. We are working very hard to get ready for it. We are preparing products for the future, and the watch is definitely one of them,” Lee Young Hee, executive vice president of Samsung’s mobile business, told Bloomberg.

He did not share any specific detail about this watch, but we got some alleged screenshots of this watch in the past.

This revelation made by Sammy is particularly interesting in the wake of Apple smart watch rumours, which is reportedly being prepared by a team of over 100 engineers.  There is no word on release of either Apple iWatch or Samsung’s smart watch.Lets hope both will never fight with each other for smartwatch patents.

The global watch industry, which is expected to see $60 billion in sales this year, is new frontier for global technology giants as they look for new product lines.

“The issue here is who will first commercialize it so consumers can use it meaningfully,” Samsung’s Lee added.

As per the previous reports, Samsung’s smart watch will be dubbed as Galaxy Altius and run on modified version of Android. The watch will feature music play, clock and email apps among others.

This is not the first time Samsung is working on watches, The company had earlier launched a watch phone in 1999, followed by a touch screen watch that came with Bluetooth support and Outlook email syncing.
