NEXUS 7 audio mod
www.androidnova.org

Announced at the Google I/O, July 2012, the Asus Google Nexus 7 has been one of the most talked about Android tablets in the market. Equipped with Google’s latest Android 4.1 Jelly Bean and impressive specs in the form of a Nvidia Tegra 3 quad-core processor clocked at 1.3 GHz and a twelve-core 416 MHz Nvidia GeForce ULP GPU ,1GB RAM and a 7″ LED-backlit IPS display at low prices of US $199/$249 for 8GB/16GB models respectively makes it a really good buy.

But not everything comes good at a low price. However thanks to the generous souls at xda developers forums we have seen seen many mods such as Record 720p Videos On Google Nexus 7′s Front-Facing Camera With A Simple Mod and Enable Full Tablet UI Experience On The Google Nexus 7 [MOD] which have helped us unlock the true potential of our Google Nexus 7.

Today we shall see yet another MOD by XDA developer Misledz, which will help us improve the sound quality on Google’s Nexus 7 tablet.

The Nexus has pitifully low volume. Previous fixes like the Volume+ app and Franco’s app only increased the volume on music playback, but did nothing for in-call volume (Skype, VOIP) or notifications, or your earphone experience.

This mod changes all that. It will increase ALL volume, across the entire phone: music, notifications, loudspeaker sound, ear speaker sound, in-call volume, and headset.

This MOD installs the Jelly Bean Louder Audio Improvement Patch, which is comprised of HTC’s Beats Audio and XLOUDER. So let’s get on with it.

NOTE:

AndroidNova.org will not be held responsible if you lose precious data or your device gets damaged in the following of this guide. Proceed at your own risk. This guide assumes that you have unlocked bootloader of and gained root access to your Nexus 7. If you wish to make system-level changes on your Android tablet, both are a necessary requirement. Just keep in mind that this will void your warranty.

REQUIREMENTS:

  1. Any kernel besides stock with CWM.
  2. Jellybean 4.1.1, Deodexed/Odexed
  3. Nandroid backup. Implore this at all costs as sometimes common human mistakes happen.

KNOWN BUGS:

Upon installing it the first time, it will hang and reboot, but upon rebooting all will be perfect and good.

HOW TO INSTALL:

  1. Download the essential files by moving over to the original thread on XDA. Make sure you download the latest version.
  2. Copy the downloaded file into the internal storage.
  3. Press the Volume UP + Volume Down + Power together to boot into CWM.
  4. Select install zip from sdcard and from there choose the zip file, that you downloaded in the first step.
  5. Click on Yes to confirm the installation.
  6. Just wait for 3-4 minutes for installation process to get completed.
  7. Once installation is complete, reboot your Google Nexus 7.

Well that’s it and now you should be able to notice an improvement in the sound quality compared to earlier. Do share with us your experience about this mod in the comments below. For queries and FAQ’s do visit the original thread on XDA.

Asus Padfone 2 has showed up in the Antutu Database based on information from ausdroid.net. It is known that ASUS is a company that is not known for releasing updated products really close together, so it was believed that it will come later in 2013 but now that the benchmarks have surfaced it might get a sooner release.

Reports coming from the same web site state that  its name will be Padfone, it will have Ice Cream Sandwich  ( it would be better with Jelly Bean) and quad core 1.512 GHZ  Snapdragon S4 Pro with 2GB of RAM. It’s a good and anticipated choice from future phablets. But no indication is given of the actual design of the product nor the price. Again from the same web site we are informed that it is expected, given by the ASUS’s Transformer range, it will probably keep similar lines to the current PadFone.

Now see for yourselves the specification and some benchmark scores taken from antutu Web site.

Access Denied for Google Nexus 7 Tablets in China - AndroidNova.org
Access Denied for Google Nexus 7 in China - AndroidNova.org

Here comes trouble for Google again!! It appears that it is Access Denied for Google Nexus 7 tablets in China. The Chinese Government has decided that it will not allow the sales of Nexus 7 tablets in the country. It seems that the Chinese Government hasn’t forgotten how Google wanted to leave the country in 2010 because they refused to censor certain things the Government wanted them to censor. That was a very admirable thing Google did back then, but it obviously wasn’ t a decision which the Chinese Government appreciated.

This is bad news for Google. In a vast country like China, where people are much more price sensitive, the Google Nexus 7 tablet could have easily become a best seller. After creating an affordable tablet (the 8 GB variant being only $199) with top class features, Google finds itself being between a rock and a hard place with the Chinese Government denying entry to its device.

Reason for the fuss??

Why is this happening you ask?? Well when Google refused to follow the censorship rules and restrictions that the Chinese Government had imposed, it was the only company to do so. Whereas, the other companies like Microsoft went along with the rules and had no problems obeying them. If a group of companies would have denied to follow the censorship rules, then it would have been a different case. But it was only Google, and obviously, the Chinese did not appreciate this.

“The China government’s negative attitude is interpreted as a response to Google’s announcement of withdrawing from the China market in March 2010, the sources pointed out. It is difficult for the Nexus 7 to enter the China market, even through sale of Asustek’s marketing network there”, the sources said.

Apart from this, the Chinese Government would also like to give opportunities to its own local companies to establish themselves as strong brands in the market before companies like Google and Asus enter the market with the Nexus 7.

What now??

As per the sources, Google is planning to sell about 8 million units till the end of the year. But with this new variable coming into play, it seems that Google will certainly fall short of its expectations unless it finds a solution to this problem soon. If it does not, then it seems like Nexus 7 will only manage to sell about 3.5 million units which is still a good amount, but certainly not a megahit.

Is it a bird?? Is it a plane?? No its the new Nexus 7 tablet by Google. Yes. With the dramatic unveiling of the Nexus 7 tablet, Google has dived headfirst into the field of consumer electronics and also shaken up the Apple-Amazon tablet wars.

Google announced the release of its first tablet, the Nexus 7 at San Francisco Google I/O developers conference this week on 28th. Nexus 7 is more than just another tablet, it puts Google’ s aims right into the horizon to reinvent itself, manufacturing its own hardware to compete with the likes of Apple and Amazon. It is a totally new direction for Google and it certainly heats up the Tablet wars. (more…)

Google is working with Asus to release a 7 inch Tablet this July. Key feature of this tablet will be :-

  • Nvidia’s Tegra 3 Quad Core processor
  • 7 inch screen
  • ICS (4.0)
  • Wifi (only)

The tablet will feature a seven-inch display and would be more of a direct competitor to Amazon’s Kindle Fire and Samsung’s Galaxy Tabs than Apple’s iPad. Though, many had expected that it will be a dual core tablet in light of Google’s attempt for Cheap Tablet.

The device will probably be sold directly to consumers via the new hardware section in the Google Play Store.

Shipment of 60,0000(approx.) will begin in June.

Expected price of this tablet will be Rs.10,000(200USD).
