LG Nexus 4

The LG Nexus 4 by now must be one of the worst leaked phones in the recent Android history. Right from the hardware specifications to the placements of the physical buttons to even a HANDS-ON video (by Swedish mobile carrier Three) was out before the official launch. The official Google event was scheduled for 29th October in New York, but thanks to Superstorm Sandy the event had to be cancelled. But Google stuck to their word and released later in the day on their website and blog. Along with LG Nexus 4 they also released Nexus 10 from Samsung and a 32 GB HSPA+ version of Nexus 7.

Some new updates in Android 4.2 which will appear in LG Nexus 4 :

A new dimension has been added to panoramic view i.e now you can move your device from top to bottom along with left to right giving a whole new aspect to your photos. The inspiration has been taken from Street View in Google Maps

Customizable Home Screen:

Now you can customize your home screen and put widgets on it. For example put your music widget on homescreen, thus keeping your music changes one touch away ! According to the video posted by VERGE you can even have multiple homescreens too.

Quick Menu Settings:

Also there is a secondary screen accessible through the drop-down notification shade.  As a quick way to get to some of the more popular settings (Bluetooth, Wi-Fi, battery, etc), this is a nice refreshing change!

Gesture Typing:
The ‘SWYPE’ feature in Samsung Smartphones is now made available in the latest Android update. As the name says you can swipe the keypad to write words thus leading to faster typing!

Here’s a HANDS-ON by Verge.

But the most shocking part of the release which stupefied everyone is it’s PRICE !!!!
Yes, the LG nexus 4 is being sold at $299 for 8 GB Model and $349 for the 16 GB Model. That means you getting yourself an Android device with specs EQUAL to and the price HALF that of a Galaxy S3 or an iPhone 5. The phone will be available online on Google Play store from November 13.
Here’s the official statement from Google

Nexus 4 is sold unlocked and is GSM/HSPA+ compatible so it will operate on more than 200 network providers worldwide. Just pop in a supported SIM card and be up and running in no time. It will be available to purchase in both an 8GB version and a 16GB version on Google Play starting November 13 in the US, UK, Canada, Germany, France, Spain and Australia. Offline availability in Europe, Central/South Americas, Asia, CIS and the Middle East will begin from the end of November.

So Here’s the main question-Will it come to India ???

India and Nexus devices haven’t gone well together. HTC nexus One and Galaxy Nexus were not officially released in India. Samsung Nexus S was released officially but the Super AMOLED screen was replaced with SC LCD screen.

But here’s the GOOD NEWS !

LG’s Mobile Product Planning lead for India, Amit Gujral, just claimed in an interview with IBNLive that the “LG Nexus” will launch at Google’s October 29th event and will be shipped to India “by the end of November“. Thus since a LG Spokesperson at such an high post has quoted such a statement, we can assured of LG Nexus 4 landing officially in India!

Converting the amount at which it would be sold in the US LG Nexus 4 would be available for INR 17000-20000 for 8GB model and INR 22000-25000 for 16GB model. Getting a quad core pure-Google phone at this price is nothing but A STEAL. Nexus 4 would be selling like HOT-CAKES blowing its competition like SGS3 and iPhone out of its way !

But for now… Let’s hope it is released in India at earliest! Till then keep checking AndroidNova for further updates.
