Asus Padfone 2 has showed up in the Antutu Database based on information from ausdroid.net. It is known that ASUS is a company that is not known for releasing updated products really close together, so it was believed that it will come later in 2013 but now that the benchmarks have surfaced it might get a sooner release.

Reports coming from the same web site state that  its name will be Padfone, it will have Ice Cream Sandwich  ( it would be better with Jelly Bean) and quad core 1.512 GHZ  Snapdragon S4 Pro with 2GB of RAM. It’s a good and anticipated choice from future phablets. But no indication is given of the actual design of the product nor the price. Again from the same web site we are informed that it is expected, given by the ASUS’s Transformer range, it will probably keep similar lines to the current PadFone.

Now see for yourselves the specification and some benchmark scores taken from antutu Web site.

MK802 Android 4.0 Mini PC- AndroidNova.org
MK802 Android 4.0 Mini PC- AndroidNova.org

Howdy Readers,

The Tagline of a leading telecom company of India says, “An Idea can change your life”. Believe it or not, this small 6 word tagline has a very detailed meaning behind it when you think of it deeply. Anyways, neither the Telecom Company nor its tagline is actually the topic for today’s discussion.

We are actually here today to discuss about a single Idea of “Google Inc.” that has changed the whole world. Yes, I am talking about Android(s). Which has effectively changed not just a life but many lives across the globe. It won’t be wrong if we address the current era as The Android Era. Android, which was just a smartphone OS previously, is now capturing the digital market by entering in every kind of gadget, be it a watch or a digital point-shot camera or even a pen. Now we will throw some light on an another one such powerful device named as “MK802 Android 4.0 Mini PC”.

To start off with, MK802 Android 4.0 Mini PC is currently the world’s smallest and most powerful hardware existing in the Android Era as of now. It is basically the world’s most compact computer/CPU powered by Android OS v 4.0 aka Ice Cream Sandwich.

Built and Design:

MK802 Android 4.0 Mini PC- AndroidNova.org
MK802 Android 4.0 Mini PC- AndroidNova.org

The device dimensions measure 3 x 1 x 0.4 inches and it weighs just 0.92 ounces. It also has a microSD card slot for extra storage, a mini HDMI port for connecting an external display, a full-sized USB port for a keyboard, mouse, or any other accessory that can be connected via an HDMI port, and a mini USB port which you can use to power the MK802, connect it to a computer, or plug in various peripherals. The device does not have a power switch and gets automatically switched on when connected to any display device.

Tech-Specs:

The device has a single-cored 1.5 GHz Allwinner A10 ARM Cortex-A8 processor with 1 GB DDR3 RAM, 4 GB of storage and connectivity to data via Wi-Fi by an internal 802.11b/g/n wireless card.

Operating System:

The MK802 Android 4.0 Mini PC, as its name suggests, runs on Android 4.0 aka Ice Cream Sandwich, with no additional skins or tweaks from the Manufacturer. The device has USB ports for connecting USB keyboards and mouse, and works exactly as any other Android Device. Just like the long press action in Android phones and tablets, you need to click for long, for swiping the recent apps, click the app, hold and swipe the mouse over the screen. The feel of using is exactly the same as using any other Android Smartphone and you can use all the supported Android Apps like Play Store, YouTube, Gmail in exactly the same manner as you use it in any other Android Smartphone.

Performance:

The Allwinner A10 ARM Cortex-A8 processor (clock speed 1.5 GHz) and along with 1 GB RAM makes the MK802 Android 4.0 Mini PC powerful enough to do anything whether it be multi-tasking, powerful HD gaming or any other task. The only negative thing we found in this device was that for now it does not support 1080p video playback and we hope the manufacturer soon enables this feature in the future updates of the device.

The Verdict:

The MK802 Android 4.0 Mini PC is basically a compact and a powerful CPU, a unique innovation and one of its own.  It is available in the market for just $77 which adds a feather in its cap. The only thing that sets us back from addressing it as a “PERFECT DEVICE” are the video playback of maximum resolution at 720p and no words from the manufacturer regarding the Firmware Update.

Design and Build-

It has the build of a typical 7-inch tablet. It seems way better than any budget tablet but doesn’t contain the stylish experience of the Apple iPad. It has the 7-inch display, which is glossy, and a fingerprint magnet as well. Talking about the rear, it has a grey plastic matte finish & that’s pleasant. Which makes the device resistive to fingerprints & dust with an elegant finish.

Summary

It is an unbelievable device. It definitely hits the sweet spot among the budget tablets and the Apple iPad. It is a available on a cost of Rs. 19900 and its value for money as in it contains nice features and specifications, and it performs better than the Sony Tablet S and the Motorola Xoom. The only disappointment comes by means of the display, which might have had a improved resolution and as we know Google Play store doesn’t have tablet specific apps. If you are comfortable to spend Rs. 20,000 on a tablet, the Samsung Galaxy Tab 2 should absolutely be on your list.

Our Conclusion-

The first tablet to run on Ice Cream Sandwich is this Galaxy tab 2 7.0 but it does undergo on Wi-Fi connectivity problems and a screen that is not consistently responsive. However, it’s on sale for the Rs. 20,000, we think it might be worth putting up with its few small niggles.

Sense 4.0 was one thing which gave HTC a facelift over the “not so much loved” Sense 3.6. Latest Sense 4.1 has been leaked for HTC One X, based on Android 4.0.4. HTC One series released back in February was lighter, lagged less and had some great UI improvements which were well received by all. But Sense 4.0 did lag when opening the app drawer, and scrolling through home screens, and pulling down the notification bar. It was inconvenient to reach virtual menu button at the top-right corner of the screen in HTC’s native apps.

Sense 4.1
Sense 4.1 - Androidnova.org

Well HTC have worked on the above issues and came up with Sense 4.1. The tech site Geeksaber has gone hands on with this new Sense 4.1 RUU, having lists of noticeable improvements.

  1. Live wallpaper lag has been fixed
  2. There’s a dedicated button in the Camera app to switch between Front/Backward facing cameras. (Earlier you’d have to go into the menu for that.)
  3. A dedicated button to switch tabs in the browser. (You’d have to go into the menu for that, too)
  4. Complete removal of all 3D-Effects in the launcher leading to a completely lag-free experience.
  5. Probably the most important- Rebased on Android 4.0.4
  6. Added ability to remap the recent apps button/ Long-press recent apps/ Long-press Home as Menu. (yes, it removes the Virtual menu bar) under Settings->Display, Gestures and Buttons
  7. New, blazing fast kernel. We mean it. It scored a pretty impressive 59oo+ in Quadrant benchmark (compared to 5100+ on Sense 4)
  8. Wifi-dropping/ Icon showing weak signal Fixes.
  9. Better Battery life- 5 Hour+ Screen-on time as compared to a measly 3 Hour+ on Sense 4.

And as usual leaked ROM is available on xda-developers for HTC One X International Version. Download it here. We loved Sense 4.0 and with improvements done in Sense 4.1, we are waiting for HTC to unveil it soon. Let us know what you think about Sense 4.1 by commenting below.

Howdy Readers and Friends,

It has been observed by us that everytime Google annouces an Android Version Upgrade, almost all curious droid users start hitting the search engines and start hunting the tentitive dates for there updates. Intrestingly, we observe that the Google Nexus users recieve the updates Immidiatly, whereas the other device users, some has to stay satisfied with the very low update process from the the manufacturer and others are highly disappointed with the official announcments of the company.

This time we have real bad news for SONY ERICSSON XPERIA ARC S, XPERIA MINI PRO, LG OPTIMUS 2X and  OPTIMUS BLACK users as our sources reported us that the manufacturers denied for providind the firmware upgradation to these devices.

Starting with the Sony Ericsson, the two devices which hit the Market in the year 2011, Xperia Arc S and Xperia Mini are now neglected by the manufacturer to provide an Official Jelly Bean Update(Android 4.1) to these devices.

Xperia Mini Pro- AndroidNova.orgXperia Arc S- AndroidNova.org

Similarly, the leading device manufacturer LG, announced not to upgrade its two formal flagships LG Optimus 2x and LG Optimus Black with the Official Ice Cream Sandwich(Android 4.0) support.

LG Optimus Black- AndroidNova.org  Lg Optimus Black- AndroidNova.org

Dont you guys think its unfair on the manufacturers’ part? Doesn’t the users deserve an updated firmware? Do the Manufacturers’ just have to concentrate over announcing and releasing new devices? forgetting there responsiblity over there previous releases. We’ll b eagerly waiting for all of your views on this.

The Google I/O developer conference begins on June 27, and rumor has it that the tech giant has some pretty exciting stuff to show off. We are curious to know what’s in the store this time by Google.

As far as we know, Google will launch its next version of Android, Jelly Bean. Nexus Tablet is certain to make its debut at the show. It is rumored among the techies that Jelly Bean is just a minor update to the Ice Cream Sandwich. Ice Cream Sandwich was huge update in terms in User Interface and Functionality. But what are the expectations from Jelly Beans?

Integration of Google Chrome: – As Google Chrome beta is already in the Play Store, all android techies are expecting Google will integrate the Chrome browser in the Jelly Beans and thus provide seamless experience of browsing desktop version of Google Chrome.

Battery Life and Power Management:- With huge improvement in Power Management and Battery life in the Ice Cream Sandwich, it is expected there will be further significant improvement in the battery’s efficiency and give users better control over the services.

File Manager: – It is also predicted that Jelly Bean could come up with an in built File Manager for users to manage and organize their files easily without installing third party file managers from Play Store

Faster Upgrades: – One of major hurdle manufactures face is applying their own customizations to Stock AOSP Android. HTC has Sense UI, Samsung has Touch wiz Interface and apparently all other manufactures have their own customizations. That is main reason upgrades are slow which we saw after Ice Cream Sandwich was launched. But now Google is expected to de-couple UI Customizations from the Core OS so that manufactures can apply their customizations much faster and thus consumers will receive updates and upgrades more often.

Lite version of Jelly Bean: – There is huge boom of Cheap Android phones in the market. But because of low end hardware configurations (Lower MHz CPU, Smaller RAM and Less Internal Storage) in such lower end and mid range phones, performance becomes a big issue. Many people are facing lags and eventually performance is affected. We are expecting a lighter version of Android OS for such lower end and mid range smart phones to overcome issue of lags and bad performance.

Also we came across rumor which states that Google Play Store will be revamped with refreshing new UI similar to desktop Play Store in Jelly Beans. Post by Loranz Yousif on Google+ gave first glimpse at what Play Store might look like. Here is preview of the New Play Store:-

New Play Store in Jelly Bean

Across the top of screen is rolling bar of “Popular Applications” and below a scrollable list of “What’s Hot” applications. Also we can see different tabs in the bottom via:-

  1. Movies
  2. Music
  3. Android Apps
  4. Books
  5. A purple rectangle could be anything. It may be Magazine Tab as rumored.

We are unsure whether this is fake photoshoped image or genuine one. It’s fairly easy to fake images and may be the “Resigned Play Store” is also pure rumor. Well, anything is possible, and soon everything will be revealed in few short days when Jelly Beans will be unveiled in Google I/O 2012.

What do you guys think? Is this Fake Play Store? Will all above expectations be met in Jelly Beans? Share your views in comments below.
