Nexus 4
Yea folks. Why? As reported earlier in our website , the nexus 4 for supposed to launch on November 30. But there’s been no news so far about the launch , so expect a certain delay of the launch by at least a month or two. So most probably a Month or two. So the question is should you wait for it? My answer would certainly be YES. Here’s why and I will be explaining this on terms of one reason and that is Android Fragmentation.

Android fragmentation is a problem that Android phones are suffering ever since it launched.Like for example if I take two phones. One from Google like the Galaxy Nexus and the other from lets say from Motorola the Droid Razr. Both these phones launched at the same time in late 2011. But if you see the official firmware they run on, The Galaxy Nexus runs on the latest Jellybean 4.1.2 (4.2 will be there in a few days) while the Razr runs on Ice Cream Sandwich 4.0.4 ( It took 8 months to get it).

So the difference is clear. If you buy a device from Google you are guaranteed to get the latest software and If you buy other devices from Samsung HTC Motorola Sony etc. you have to wait and wait to get it and sometimes the device never ends up getting the upgrade.

Yea there are many advantages of those devices like Samsung which has many touchwiz features like the recently famous feature of multi-window which is not even a stock android features. And yea LG as a mobile brand hasn’t been doing well before the launch of Nexus 4 and there is that mentality people have that because its from LG the phone won’t be that good , but trust me or Androidnova this is a phone from Google and LG so you are getting the best of the best when you are getting this device.

We also heard some of the drawbacks of this device and that is the lack of 4G LTE support but being an Indian consumer that’s something which you should least worry about as in India 3G is still developing stages.

So the bottom line is wait for the device to launch in India. The hardware in it is just supreme and with the latest software updates it will only get better.

 NASA’s Future Nano-satellites

After the successful programme of NASA’s multiple rover on Mars, space exploration is commonly thought in everyone’s minds. Such projects has held the american pride over space exploration and research.

One of these projects is the CubeSat Launch initiative (CSLI), in which nanosatellites built by teams across the United States will be launched into orbit, on rockets planned for upcoming launches. The satellites are around 4 inches long, have a volume of one quart and weigh in the region of 3 pounds.

This is very interesting, but what does it have to do with Android? Well, with CubeSat, there’s a smaller project known as PhoneSat.

The idea behind PhoneSat is that engineers working on these satellites will use small  electronics that are available to everyone and using open source software such Android OS, to achieve the implementation of using a smartphone as a thinking unit in a satellite As you may have guessed from the name, the team will be using smartphones as the main component in its nanosatellites.

So what is the smartphone of choice for engineers working on the PhoneSat project? T

The first model, PhoneSat 1.0, actually uses a Google Nexus One.

Now, before you compare the list of all the phones that are more powerful than the original Nexus, let’s just put this in  thought by comparing its specs to that of the Curiosity rover.

The Nexus One is powered by a 1GHz Qualcomm CPU,while the Curiosity packs a PowerPC G3 processor that was used by Apple in the 90′s. The Nexus One has 512MB RAM, Curiosity has 256MB RAM. The Nexus One weighs 130g, Curiosity weighs… a lot more. now after above comparison we feel the Nexus One really isn’t a bad choice.

we  also have to take into consideration the time it takes for engineers to test their software on smartphones. Once the nanosatellite is in orbit, NASA will have a tough time trying to remotely update the software on a phone that’s 150km away. Expect an OTA 150 Kms away from earth using satellite broadband .Due to this, utmost care is necessary so that the phone software is bug-free and works as the engineers intended.

Test have already been run to determine the physical durability of the Nexus One at high speeds and high altitudes. In 2010, two Nexus Ones were launched on rockets. Unfortunately, one of those rockets crashed and sent the Nexus to smartphone heaven, but the other one landed safely and the Nexus One was completely unscathed. Further tests have been run since, including one that sent the PhoneSat 1.0 into high altitude on a balloon last year.

The next step for engineers is to finally launch the PhoneSat into its space orbit, where it will report back to Earth with its current status and send some images back, too. Rather than provide the original model with lots of functionality, the team wants to use it in order to see how it copes in orbit. Further functionality will be included in future models.

Future Models

The team is already building the second model, PhoneSat 2.0, which will use a slightly more powerful Samsung Nexus S as opposed to the Nexus One used in the original. The satellite will comprise of the phone, as well as a two-way S-band radio, solar panels, and a GPS receiver. The solar panels are crucial, as they will provide the unit with power whilst in orbit, and the radio will relay instructions to the satellite from Earth.

NASA plans to launch two PhoneSat 1.0 units and one PhoneSat 2.0 with the maiden flight of Orbital Sciences Corporation’s Antares rocket later this year.

With each PhoneSat prototype costing just $3500 to build, w. Using everyday consumer electronics available to everyone is a great way to reduce costs, and allow teams from universities across the countries to work on projects.

As well as using PhoneSat for low-cost Earth observations, the team at NASA also plans to use similar units to assist with moon exploration and testing new components for space flight.

Android 4.2 - AndroidNova.org

The new version of Android, i.e. Android 4.2 will supposedly be announced on October 29th in the Google event. But the new version will still be called Jellybean according to the reports. A radical change in the outlook and features is not expected. So, we will have to wait for Android 5.0 Key Lime Pie to get anything breathtaking.

Till then, lets see what new features Google brings into the picture with its new version of the OS.

Android 4.2 Name : -

As we have already stated, the new version of the OS will not be Key Lime but, but it will still be called Jellybean. But no need to get disappointed. Just because its not Key Lime Pie does not mean there are not any improvements or features. There are some cool new features that are on the way in the new update.

Android 4.2 Features : -

From what we have found out, Android 4.2 is going to have a new button in the notification bar to allow access to quick settings. Contrary to the Touchwiz framework of the Samsung ROMs, where there are quick settings toggles in the notification drawer which one can access after dropping down, in Android 4.2, there will a single button in the notification bar which will lead to a zone where one can perform functions like turning on and off the Wi-Fi, bluetooth, flight mode etc.

Android 4.2 - AndroidNova.org

This feature isn’t that exciting and new as most of the custom ROMs like CM, AOKP ROMs and MIUI already have the notification toggles embedded in the notification drawer. There are various updates regarding this feature all over the place, so don’t be surprised if it changes again before the Monday launch – or gets dropped altogether.

The other big change is in the Gallery app, which will see the UI become a bit more open and surrounded by white frames, in a bid to make Android look that little bit more professional once more.

There are also reports that suggest that there are going to be revamped icons for Gallery and Camera apps. Another minor feature in Android 4.2 will let you dismiss your data counter when you get warned you’re heading close to the limit you pre-set.

There are also various rumors of Project Roadrunner, the successor of Project Butter which will focus mainly on improving the battery life but not much details are known about it. Other rumors and features include an update of the Google Play store with new features like extra billing options, easier in app purchases, and personalization.

Another very useful feature that is said to be included is the ability to set multiple user accounts . This will allow users to set the apps they want for their own accounts. This was found out  by Android Police, who noted that some apps required permissions for different users on the same device.

Another new cool feature will be the inclusion of parental controls right into the OS which will allow the Admin to change the interaction each other user has with the OS.

Android 4.2 Devices : -

It is expected that several devices running the new version of Android 4.2 will be announced on October 29th in the Google event with the LG Nexus 4 being one of them. Other devices include the new version of the Nexus 7 and the Nexus 10  both of which will be running on Android 4.2.

Android 4.2 is set to launch on October 29th in the Google event along with the announcement of three new Nexus devices.

With only a couple of weeks to go, we cannot be too far from the launch of the next Nexus by LG, said to be on October 29th. By now, all the mysteries surrounding the next Nexus device have disappeared into thin air. Cannot even recall the number of leaks regarding the 4th Nexus branded device. Nonetheless today we came across another and the biggest of all, by far.

LG Nexus 4

We havd already come across the specs of the LG Nexus 4 previously and recently Belarusian blog Onliner has published what it is calling a “preliminary review” of the prototype smartphone, surely to make this as one of the worst kept secrets in smartphone history.

On the left - Galaxy Nexus, right - LG Nexus 4

It shares an extremely similar design with the Samsung Galaxy Nexus, the phone its meant to replace, with on-screen buttons and a hidden LED notification light on the phone’s chin. Changes like chrome buttons and a smooth, patterned back plate, which apparently refused to scratch when struck with a key, are looking to be awesome additions. The micro SIM card tray is on the left side of the phone, to come to terms with the the non-removable battery. The LG Nexus 4 will come with flat screen instead of the curved one on the Samsung Galaxy Nexus. The headphone jack has been moved to the top. There’s only 8GB of onboard storage, and there is no provisions for a microSD card slot.

Based on the recent LG Optimus G, its powered by quad-core Qualcomm Snapdragon S4 Pro processor and 2GB of RAM. Additionally, reports confirm that the prototype model’s 4.7-inch, 1280 x 720 display is an IPS unit, making it the first Nexus phone to use an LCD instead of an AMOLED screen with a PenTile subpixel arrangement.

Taking a look at some images taken by the 8 megapixel camera on the LG Nexus 4, brings nothing but disappointment. The quality of these images is very mediocre. The details are all smudged and the colors and white balance in particular seem off. They actually seem even worse than the ones taken on the 5 megapixel Galaxy Nexus camera.

The prototype also disappointed in the synthetic benchmarks department. The AnTuTu and Quadrant scores reported way too low for a device with a quad-core Snapdragon S4 and 2GB of RAM packed in.

As for the performance goes, the prototype said to be running Android 4.1.2 Jelly Bean is very buggy. Considering its only a test model, obviously the results and benchmarks could differ severely by the time it launches on October 29th.

More LG Nexus Pictures Come Out and This Time With Details

We have been hearing rumours that an LG Nexus phone is coming to market this fall for almost a month now. Last night, we got our first clear look at what will be LG’s next Nexus device, the E960, based on the Optimus G. Tonight, we get confirmation of some earlier rumoured specs on the LG Nexus, as well as some more pictures further detailing the device.

LG Nexus -the next Nexus device

XDA user 4shael had his hands on a LG Nexus prototype, and has made a thread to answer questions anyone might have on it. After a few questions on specs, network compatibility and how the device compares to the Galaxy Nexus, we are starting to get a better idea of just what’s inside the LG Nexus.

According to 4shael, the LG Nexus comes with a 1.5 GHz quad-core Snapdragon S4 Pro CPU, an Adreno 320 GPU, 2 GB of RAM, 8GB of non-expandable storage, 768×1184 320 ppi display, an 8 megapixel camera, Jelly Bean MR1 and Kernel 3.4.0. 4shael also says they don’t think the prototype they have has access to has LTE connectivity, only DC-HSPA+, and feels roughly the same size as the Galaxy Nexus in hand.

LG Nexus -the next Nexus device

The software version, camera, display, CPU, GPU and RAM don’t come as much of a surprise, but the lack of LTE connectivity and limited storage do. It does make sense for Google to carry a version of the LG Nexus with only 8GB of storage to keep cost down, but if they don’t provide an option for 16 or 32GB models they could be in trouble.

4shael left before answering all the questions but he did promise to return back with a video, so hopefully, we can expect a video to cover the next Nexus. We will be keeping an eye on the thread started for the device in hopes of hearing more.

That is all that we have got so far, if you have any questions you can head over to this thread (link given below) and we will suggest you to stay tuned as we will cover anything that we get on this.

So how do you like what has been revealed so far?? Tell us in your comments.

ANY GUESSES AS TO WHAT DEVICE ARE WE TALKING ABOUT ?

The above mentioned fully loaded device is infact the rumoured specs for the upcoming HTC’S flagship model One X 5 or Droid Incredible X .

SO WHATS SO SPECIAL ABOUT THIS ?

Well a little bird told us that the above mentioned HTC is infact going to be called the NEXUS 5 under googles branding ( yes google is a now a brand , not long before we see  google shoes , caps and tees sold as exclusive google merchandise ) ! Now that is big news since this might actually be the 1st time since google opts for a full blown phablet ( well PHONE + TABLET = PHABLET , eeish Geeks ) instead .  Google is widely expected to have , not one , but five new Nexus devices available to consumers this fall. Earlier this year, the search giant partnered with ASUS (2357) to release the Nexus 7 tablet, the first Nexus-branded device of 2012. The Mountain View-based company has reportedly partnered with htc to produce the Google “Nexus 5″ smartphone.

google nexus 5- AndroidNova.org

So this fall google may actually have a complete set in the form of nexus 2,3,4,5 and 6 ( go for it collectors ! this is something you could have only dreamt of ) with galaxy nexus and the nexus 7 completing the series .

HOW TRUE IS THIS ?

Well as mentioned above , all of this is just a big rumour but there are facts which makes us believe all of this could actually be true :

1.Having released the quad-core One X earlier this year, HTC has lost a little ground in the Android stakes thanks, in part, to the Samsung Galaxy S III, and its announcement of Windows Phone 8 handsets pairing has arguably been the most exciting announcement from HTC in a long while. So pairing up with google could give it a huge boost ( look at asus today ! ) .

2.Recently, we’ve come to know that Samsung and Asus are in this exclusive club. And now it looks like HTC might be too if google dose’nt want to get over dependent on any 2 manufacturers.

The relevance of the above however cannot be confirmed till google itself confirms it when it finally launches the devices on the 5th of september 2012 ( just before the shopping season ! how smart )

Thats all from us now , till then keep guessing and keep speculating !

Yes, what you read above is right. For all those who wanted to buy this tablet desperately but couldn’t do so because it has not been officially launched in India yet, there is some good news. The very first gadget with Android 4.1 Jelly Bean operating system is available online. A very popular online store ebay.in has a seller that ships the product within 14 days in India, which is quicker than the official release of Nexus 7 in India(there is no news about the official release yet , it was supposed to be launched in october 2012 but has been delayed due to the unknown reasons). The seller has priced it at Rs. 17,690 for the 8GB version which translates to around $321.this should be noted that the google pricing for the same was $199. Another online shopping site indiatimes shopping has this tablet in stock and they have priced the Nexus 7 at Rs. 16,952.

Google Nexus 7

For those who do not know much about this tablet. here it is, Google Nexus 7 tablet was announced in Google I/O 2012 event , and is the first gadget with Android 4.1 jelly beans operating system.Google has kept its price to minimum by pricing it at $199 for the base model, with the storage capacity of 8GB.This tablet manufactured by ASUS comes in two storage capacities, which are 8GB and 16GB and the brand has priced it extremely competitively at $199 and $249, respectively.

Google Nexus 7

there had been rumours that the Google Nexus 7 would not come equipped with 3G connectivity, in order to keep the price minimum and so is true. The connectivity options found on this flagship Google Nexus 7 tablet, include Wi-Fi a/b/g/n, Bluetooth and NFC capabilities.Nexus 7 comes with Google wallet pre installed. When it comes to camera,it comes with only front facing camera but what is interesting is that it can also shoot 720P HD videos. When it comes to the size, this 7-inch tablet measures 198.5 x 120 x 10.5 mm and weighs 340g. These dimensions allow it to go head-to-head with the Amazon Kindle Fire.

so are you gonna grab this deal or are you gonna wait until the official launch. Let us know your thoughts in comments.
