Yes, you might be wondering how does an automobile manufacturing company land up in a website dedicated for Android devices. Yes it’s that very same HYUNDAI which has come up with a 7 inch-ICS 1.4 GHz Quad Core tablet named Hyundai T7. Well the surprise element doesn’t stop here; it’s available for a mere $166, competing with the likes of Amazon Kindle and Google Nexus 7

Looking at it, it’s a rip-off of Galaxy Note 8.0 or a super-sized version of Galaxy S3. And the similarity does end here; it is driven by a Samsung made Exynos 4412 chipset the same one found in Galaxy S3. Leaving those similarities aside, there are many other excellent features bolstering this device. Along with the Quad core SoC, Hyundai T7 also packs 1GB DDR3 RAM, Mali 400 GPU, 1280×800 resolution, 8GB Internal (32 GB expandable) and a HDMI output

Here’s a list of official specs:

  • 7 inch IPS capacitive touchscreen
  • 1280×800 resolution
  • Android 4.0.4 ICS
  • Exynos 4412 quad core chipset (Cortex A9)
  • Mali 400 MP4 GPU
  • 1 GB DDR3 RAM
  • 8GB internal (32 GB Expandable)
  • 2.0 MP front and 0.3 MP back camera
  • HDMI output
  • 3300 mAh battery

As you can see Hyundai has tried to cover almost every aspect possible in the tablet and have managed to put all that in an affordable price tag. Apart from falling short on a few of them, they have come up successful with the rest.

Pros:

  1. First and foremost, the PRICE; $166 for a Quad Core tablet, what else can you ask for???
  2. Generally mid level tablets are launched having a RAM of 512/768 MB. But Hyundai T7 packs 1GB of RAM ensuring smooth transitions
  3. It’s quite light weight at 303gms.
  4. Camera provided on the front as well on the back side(unlike Nexus 7)
  5.  Resolution of 1280×800 will ensure crisp and clear display.
  6. Chipset of Exynos+Mali should take care of heavy multitasking and gaming.
  7. MicroHDMI output, quite a useful add-on.

Cons:

  1. The major issue will be battery; it says work time of 5 hours but in reality would last up only 3-4 hours.
  2. Fully plastic body giving it an inferior build quality.
  3. Still on ICS 4.0.4, and it would be highly unlikely to receive an future update from Hyundai
  4. 8GB internal memory.

Hyundai T7 is officially available at PandaWill , who support worldwide shipping.

Conclusion:

Apart from the battery life which is the only major concern, Hyundai T7 might be the first tablet to break the sub $200 mark and provide you features that of a mid to high level tablet. Seeing such launches, its high time companies like Samsung and Apple come up with budget friendly tablets with equally worthy specs.

Nexus 7

Based on information coming from phandroid the 8GB version of nexus 7 has been completely sold out and is listed as “coming soon”.There have been a lot of rumors of this on the web and the same web site indicate that Google will completely phase out the 8GB version in favor of offering the 16GB the exact same price. Again phandroid informs us that Google is expected to announce the news on Monday at their Android event in New York, along with a nicer 32GB model in the same price point of the 16GB.

The 8GB NExus 7 ‘s memory was falling way short for the huge  Tegra 3 optimized games leaving no more room for your HD videos or your music. And also that the Nexus 7 lacks memory expandability.

We are hoping that Google have a little more up their sleeves than just storage space if they want to keep a strong competitive edge over Apple’s finest. Also based on the same web site is expected  a new 3G model for the Nexus 7 as well an update to the unannounced Android 4.2( still Jelly Bean) and possibly a 10 inch Nexus 10 tablet.

32GB Nexus 7

Androidcommunity.com reports that the 32GB Nexus 7 tablet has been confirmed as it was spotted in Staples Advantage website and makes us believe that the tablet surely exists. The interesting part isn’t the appearance of 32 GB Nexus 7 but it’s price.

Based on information coming from the same web site Staples Advantage gives the new Nexus 7 variant a price of $248.37, which is $3.11 less than the Staples price for 16GB model. Also the same web site is reporting a rumor that 16GB model will be phased out once the 32GB variant is on the scene. And this listing supports the claim. So if you plan to buy the 16 GB Nexus 7, it might be better idea to wait and see if 32 GB model gets an official announcement.

32GB Nexus 7

Currently we believe that it will , but  in the world of tech , nothing is granted until it really happened.  In addition the  big number of  leaks surrounding the 32Gb Nexus 7  makes us confident  that it is just a matter of time for Google to announce it. The listing however says that 32GB Nexus 7 will be available from 18 October, but we are going to agree with AndroidCommunity that it is a placeholder date.

Even staples don’t know when 32 GB Nexus 7 will come out.  Androidcommunity.com reports that Google will ship the new variant on 24 October, which seems a more realistic date than 18 October.
