Its been quite a long time since we are seeing a giant growth of Micromax Products in the Indian Smartphone Industry, it seems it really goes with its tagline Nothing Like Anything. And why not? Its few cherry features that might take the manufacturers go with the tagline can be:
- Extremely low price tag of its devices.
- High-end device like hardware specs provided.
- Almost all devices running on the latest android version.
- Very attractive advertisements in the local print/electronic media.
At this stage, we decided to closely analyse and research its products and give out a fair verdict to our subscribers. So after a close analysis, we came to a conclusion that would be a shocking thing for every fan-boy of Micromax who wishes to use the product but aint familiar with it.
Some of the major common drawbacks that we concluded after having hand-on with half a dozen Micromax devices were:
- Extremely cheap built quality, which fails to give even a faint feel of a good device in hands.
- Very bad quality display.
- Very poor resolution.
- Poor performance, might be due to majority of the devices are equipped with 512MB RAM. you see, does that makes a sense, a device powered with 1.2 GHz Dual Core CPU, running on Android 4.1.2 is actually equipped with just 512 MB RAM.
- Very poor quality camera even after dual-led flash. Although the devices claims the camera with a resolution of 5/8/12 MP, the picture quality is as poor as 3.2 MP.
- The manufacturer, Micromax never let sources out of any its device, and one of the biggest factor behind Android being a smartphone giant, is actually Open Source.
However, this was just a personal opinion after a close analysis of the Micromax device, I thought, I might be wrong, as personally using a former Samsung flagship device from over last one and half years. So still giving you guys a fair opinion, I followed the Official Facebook Fan Page of Micromax, which made me more confident before writing down this post. Have a close look what I really found, and what did I failed to spot in my analysis:
Mohammed Uvais says :
Its been for times i had submitted the device to the Service Center, The service centre guys kept the device more then i did. Finally threw the set in Gabage Bin. Dads angry, says you ruined a sum of 10k hard-earned money.
Vishal Puri says:
By leaving customers unanswered and deleting comments/posts when asking about the refund in public, Micromax shows off its true colors.
Santosh Mahadap, faced a bug while making calls just after unboxing device. Tried contacting the service center and found the information provided by the company regarding service center was false and was of actually HTC. further he tried contacting via Emails and FB fanpage, disappointed after being not answered to his questions, he finally spammed the fanpage with his personal experience after a long disappointment.
Navi Singh warns:
If you ever go for Micromax, youll definatly regret. I submitted my handset to the service centre on July 6, 2013, and its August 6, 2013, but nothing has been done yet till date. No one, actually gives a damn to your issues, the only thing done is lodging the complain, nothing more then that.
Ratnesh Bhatt shares his complain details and strongly critisises the nearest service center for not repairing his device from a long time.
Biswajit Nag hasnt received his device from the service centre even after more then a months time period now.
Parishit Hanumante says,
Never saw a company like MMX, whose fanpage is filled up of public criticism. And still the company does nothing to improve itself.
Sanjeev Goel Says:
Micromax is a big time fraud. No one should engage itself in any sort of the manufacturers trap via its attractive advertisements. Its product quality is totally cheap and third-class and the after-sales-services is too pathetic. Its been 3 months my A100 has been sent to repair, but still i have no word from any official when ill be receiving it back. I have now approached the consumer forum to sue the manufacturer.
Sanjeev further leaves his contact no. so that anyone doubting his comment may contact him personally.
Vivek Karol again shares his experience of the cheap quality manufacturing, pathetic after sales service, and leaving him unanswered for his telephone calls and emails from past 2 months.
These were just a few of many like comments/posts on the official fanpage of the Manufacturer. And yes, my personal opinion was right to a limit, but lagged heavily. Its not just about cheap manufacturing and bad quality hardware, the upcoming brand even lags big times when it comes on After-Sales-Service.
Wait, this isnt over yet. This was actually just a trailer of its after-sales-service. The big cat is yet to be out of the bag.
Till this point of time, I addressed the upcoming company as a Manufacturer. But do these people deserve this tag even a bit? This research dragged me in at every bit of time, as it was turning more and more interesting at every phase.
Dont get me where I am directing you guys? have a close look at the images of Wiko Cink 5 below:
Still dont get it? Have a look on the brief specs comparison table:
|Device Name||Wiko Cink Five||Micromax Canvas HD|
|Display||5-inch (1280 x 720 pixels) HD IPS 16.7 million color display||5-inch (1280 x 720 pixels) HD IPS 16.7 million color display|

Amazing, Isnt it? What do you guys call this? Manufacturing? or Rebranding?
I know thats not enough to actually make a strong opinion. Well, have a look at other device Wiko Darkside Stairway.
Now, a more closer look over here, its not long before this device was launched by the Indian brand:
A close look on the brief spec comparison of both the devices:
|Device Name||Wiko Darkside Stairway||Micromax Canvas 4|

This was the actual hard work, dedication and innovation behind the device, as said by an company official at the launch event of the latest flagship.
No, this isnt over yet. Micromax, had been just importing and re-branding every device till date, And well reveal about more devices in the coming time. The cheaply manufactured Turkish or Chinese device, with a third graded hardware is sold by the name of Micromax in the Indian Market. And there lies the actual reason behind the consumers suffering after falling in traps of attractive advertisements, cheery features and end up purchasing such products.
So what do you guys think? Does the brand really fits the tagline Nothing like Anything? or it goes totally the other way round? Do they even deserve a tag of Manufacturer? Shouldnt the company restrict its budget on advertising and put up that amount in improving the quality, after-sales service, hard work, innovation and factors like that?
Do tell us what do you guys think? and do share this post wherever possible to prevent your near and dear once failing in the trap. And for the rest of the updates on Android Universe, do stay tuned with AndroidNova.org.
