Samsung Galaxy 3-

Howdy Readers,

Well this post would not be an interesting one for many of you guys but is really special for us, want to know why? Give us just two minutes and go through the post. And then do let us know your opinions.

It seems just yesterday when I purchased my first Android some two years back, Samsung Galaxy 3{GT-I5801} and my never ending journey began in this geek world with every geek’s best bot friend, Android.

Not very late, I came to know about the XDA development forums, and found a device specific forum for my Android Device, Samsung Galaxy 3 (GT-I5800/5801) which actually bought me into a whole new universe of Android where I came to know about Rooting, Flashing, Odexing, Deodexing, ROMs, Themes, Firmware’s and what not.

It could have been difficult for me to catch-up the ship to sail the android universe if I wouldn’t have found the collection of notes by Dharam Maniar(a Recognized XDA Developer) and Dhiren Dash(a Recognized XDA Themer). The forum gave me a great experience as I was overjoyed to flash FroYo(Android 2.2) even before its arrival to India. Also, it was a great experience to taste a different flavored FroYo (Custom ROMs) every week.

The FroYo based ROMs which I can remember I enjoyed are G3Mod ROM, Indroid, DutchMods, Vivek’s and Lestatious.

Time passed and the majority of developers started moving to high-end devices and the once-evergreen forum was turning into a filtering one.

In no time, even Samsung increased our sorrows by saying a no for updating our device Samsung Galaxy 3(GT-I5800/5801) to GingerBread (Android2.3.x).

At that point of time, A Senior XDA Member, Marcellusbe, all alone, took the pain, and started porting CM7/AOSP versions of GingerBread. Which in no time had a pretty stable build. Almost all the users had moved to it.

Android Jelly Bean-

No longer, the Android Jelly Bean (Android 4.1) was announced in the Google I/O 2012 Keynote on June 27, 2012. Not much time after that, on July 29, 2012, Marcellusbe started a thread in the XDA forum of the device, and worked hard on porting it. Currently, the status of his project is:

Just the Camera and Video Codecs are in the non working list, rest all is working flawlessly in the rom.

Below are some screenshots provided with running Jelly Bean on Samsung Galaxy 3 (GT-I5801).

Jelly Bean running on Samsung Galaxy 3-

Marcellusbe, has been an active member of Galaxy 3 Forum, and his contribution right from the starting was the best amongst all the other developers. He formerly worked on porting FuguMod Kernel successfully on the device, an active contributor in porting ICS for the device and now it’s his hard-work that galaxy 3 users can taste the latest Jelly Bean on their devices. Marcellusbe, as what we have seen, unlike other developers, has never even asked for any sort of donations for his work, and his continues dedication in the forum although didn’t lead him to Recognized XDA Developer Tag, but is addressed as “God of Galaxy 3″ by the active forum members.

This post, my dear readers, is a tribute, to my first android device, not just mine, a many of our teammate’s first android. This post, is a salute to the dedication of a man who take things in hands and brings a revolution, This post is dedicated to one man, who is the one man show in keeping a dead-device and dead-forum alive and still active.

Team AndroidNova salutes Marcellusbe for his hard work, dedication and consistent contribution to Samsung Galaxy 3.

That’s all for now, for more details and updates on the android world, stay tuned to

For your information marcel is not a recognized developer by choice and not by force. He refused to be upgraded to a recognized developer so is still a senior member.

I kno about the fact and rankings on XDA very well… I meant to say although he is ranked as ‘Senior Member’ , is still reffered as a ‘God of Galaxy 3′
