Samsung Galaxy Grand Quattro - Androidnova.org

Samsung Galaxy Grand Quattro I8552 is known as Galaxy Win in other markets around the world but Samsung choose to keep its name Grand Quattro in India. Maybe the logic behind that is the Galaxy Grand has been doing quite well in India and Samsung wants to capitalize this brand name by keeping a similar name. Samsung Grand Quattro is also catching eyeballs for the fact that it is Samsung cheapest smartphone to come with a quad core processor.

Yes the Galaxy Grand Quattro is packed with a 1.2GHz quad-core Qualcomm MSM8625Q Snapdragon 200 processor and Adreno 203 GPU. It is supported by 1GB RAM and 8 GB internal memory which is expandable upto 32 GB using a microSD card and runs Android 4.1.2 Jelly Bean. While these facts are good, the display is quite disappointing. Although it comes with a 4.7 inch display, the resolution is only WVGA (800x480p) resolution and 199 ppi pixel density. It also comes with a 5 MP rear camera with flash and capable of shooting 720p videos, along with a VGA camera at the front for video calling. Grand Quattro is also a dual SIM smartphone with 2000mAh battery.

Price: While the Samsung India’s official website lists a price of Rs. 18,260, various online retailers are selling it for around Rs. 16,500.

Our verdict:

Spice Smart Flo Pace 2 is a budget smartphone with decent specs. With its looks and price this device seems to be direct rival of Micromax Viva A72 which is a 5 inch phablet priced at Rs. 6499. Also while low cost and a dual core processor are the plus points; lack of 3G support and low internal memory may disappoint some buyers.

Ever since the launch of the HTC One (codenamed HTC M7), there have been rumours suggesting that HTC is preparing to release a mid-range smartphone dubbed HTC M4. Previous reports claimed that the device M4, was similar to the HTC First without the integration of Facebook Home UI, however this does not seems be the case.

According to a report by DigiTimes, the Taiwanese smartphone maker has signed a deal with Catcher Technology, appointing it as the exclusive supplier of metal-alloy body for use in HTC M4. HTC has appointed a single provider for the chassis in order to avoid supply problems like the ones it had with the HTC One. The report also claims that HTC is planning to launch this M4 smartphone in June and an estimate shipping 700,000 units within the second quarter.

The rumours suggest that M4 will feature a 4.3-inch 720p HD display and a 1.2GHz Snapdragon 400 processor. The device may also include 16GB of internal storage, 1GB of RAM and Sense 5 along with Android 4.2.2 Jelly Bean. HTC M4 is also expected to come with an “UltraPixel” rear camera, just like the HTC One.

Given that the HTC One is winning praises all over with its design and metal body, an affordable mid-range HTC M4 may help HTC appeal to a broader smartphone audience and help HTC to recover from crisis.  HTC is struggling financially with its Q1 2013 results represented the company’s lowest quarterly profit ever, and sixth consecutive quarter of decline.
