The anxiously awaited successor of the Samsung Galaxy Note, The Samsung Galaxy Note II was announced at the IFA 2012 event in Berlin on Wednesday, by Samsung electronics.

All the features and the hardware specs of Note II were revealed by Samsung in the event. As per the details given by the Korean manufacturer in the event, the Samsung Galaxy Note II packs packs a 1.6 GHz Cortex A9 CPU on an Exynos 4412 Quad chipset. The device also comes with 8MP rear camera, 1.9MP front camera and a huge 3,100 mAh battery on-board. Add to it, a 5.5 inch Super AMOLED HD display which makes its hardware top class. The Samsung Galaxy Note II will be available in Marble White and Titanium Gray colours. You can also attach a flip cover to the Galaxy Note II which will be available in a multitude of colours. Compared to the original Note, Note II is thinner despite the amount of extra hardware that it packs. The design of Galaxy Note 2 is similar to that of Galaxy S3 with rounded corners and slick surface.

The S-Pen has also been redesigned and improved by Samsung. As compared to the Galaxy Note, Galaxy Note II has a longer and thicker S Pen, which apparently feels more natural than the stylus feel of the original Galaxy Note pen. Also, the new S Pen has a rubber tip to, as well as an 8mm grip for holding it comfortably between the fingers.

Samsung has also introduced a feature known as Air View in the Galaxy Note II, which lets you to preview the contents of videos, emails, images etc without even opening it. You just need the hover the pen over them and voila, you get the preview.

Popup Note is also introduced in Note II, which allows the users to make/edit a note on the screen while using another app. The demo of this feature was shown at the Samsung unboxing event where the host makes a note on the screen while calling a person.

The Samsung Galaxy Note II will be available in the markets worldwide starting from October. Although we do not have much details about its price right now, it will certainly cost more than the SGS III. Note II looks like an enlarged Galaxy S III, but considering the amount of hardware that it packs, it would certainly be more powerful than the S III. Will the consumers and the market appreciate the device?? That is yet to be seen.
As you may know, the Apple vs Samsung case reached to its conclusion last week, and as a result, Samsung has to pay Apple $1.05 billion in damages.
